What ASV is
ASV (African Silicon Valley) is an independent hub for AI training work. It does three things:
- Profiles third-party platforms that pay people to train and evaluate AI models, such as Outlier, DataAnnotation, micro1 and Mercor.
- Publishes guides on getting accepted, doing the work well, and getting paid.
- Runs a talent pool of experts for ASV Projects, the AI training projects ASV runs itself.
These terms apply whenever you use ASV, and by using it you accept them. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
Third-party platforms
ASV does not employ you on any platform, and it is not a recruiter, agent or affiliate of any platform it covers. When you apply to a platform, you deal with that platform directly. Its own terms and policies govern your application, the work you do there, and how and when you are paid.
That also means ASV cannot see or change your account on a platform, influence whether you are accepted, or settle a dispute about tasks, ratings or pay. Those questions belong with the platform’s own support.
Platform names and trademarks belong to their owners. We use them only to identify the platforms we write about.
Referral links
Apply buttons on ASV use a referral link wherever we have one. If you join a platform through one, that platform may pay ASV a referral bonus. It costs you nothing, it never comes out of your pay, and it has no bearing on what we write about any platform.
How ASV makes money explains exactly how referral links work, and what they never change.
Information can change
We research every profile and guide with care, list our sources, and date what we publish. But platforms change their pay, requirements, processes and country availability often, and without notice. Treat ASV as a well-researched starting point, and confirm anything that matters to you (above all pay, eligibility and payout methods) on the platform itself before you rely on it.
Where ASV and a platform disagree, the platform is right. Nothing on ASV is financial, legal or tax advice, and we cannot promise that any platform will accept you, offer you work, or pay a particular rate.
Acceptable use
Use ASV lawfully and in good faith. In particular, please do not:
- copy or republish substantial parts of the site, or scrape it in a way that puts a strain on it;
- probe, break or work around its security, or try to reach accounts or data that are not yours;
- send fake, automated or misleading traffic through referral links;
- impersonate ASV or a platform, or present yourself as acting for either.
Quoting a short passage with a link back is welcome. We may limit or end access for anyone who misuses the site.
The talent pool
The talent pool is the part of ASV you sign in to. Experts apply once and join a waitlist, and ASV contacts them when one of its own projects needs what they know. If you join, these terms apply on top of everything above.
18 or older
The talent pool is for people 18 or older. The application asks your date of birth, and ASV does not accept anyone younger.
Joining is free
Joining costs nothing. ASV will never ask you to pay to join, to stay in the pool or to be considered for a project, and anyone who asks you for money in ASV’s name is not ASV.
Joining does not guarantee work
Joining puts you on a waitlist. It does not promise you a project, an amount of work, a rate or a date. ASV reviews the pool as projects come in and contacts the people whose profiles fit; whether that includes you, and when, depends on the projects ASV takes on.
Accurate information, one profile each
Give accurate information, with your name exactly as it appears on your official ID, and keep it current as things change. Keep to one profile per person: do not apply for someone else, share your account, or create a second profile. Upload only your own CV.
Contact about projects
By joining, you agree that ASV may contact you about projects by email, or on WhatsApp if you gave a number you use there. If you no longer want to hear from ASV, delete your application, or email support@asvalley.com.
Removing profiles
ASV may remove a profile, or leave it out of a project’s search, if it is fake, belongs to someone else, duplicates another profile or is used abusively, for example to impersonate someone or to upload harmful files.
Every project has its own terms
If ASV invites you to a project, that project comes with its own terms: what the work is, what it pays, how and when you are paid, and any checks it needs, such as confirming your identity. Being in the pool is not a contract for work. You are free to say no, and you take part only once you have agreed to the project’s terms.
Leaving
You can edit or delete your application at any time from your account. Deleting it removes your answers, your CV and your account. The privacy policy explains what ASV keeps while you are in the pool.
Limitation of liability
ASV is provided as is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be complete, current, uninterrupted or free of errors.
To the fullest extent the law allows, ASV is not liable for any loss that arises from using the site or relying on its content, including decisions you make about applying to, working for or being paid by a third-party platform, and anything that happens on a site we link to. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as ASV changes. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes with them, and if a change is significant we will say so clearly on the site and, if you are in the talent pool, by email. If you keep using ASV after a change, the updated terms apply.
Questions
